Cheeky Churndash

Nov 15, 2018 | Sew Alongs

Churndash is my favorite block and this pattern looked fun. It was my first Sew Along!

I used the QAYG method, making each of the 9 big blocks, then quilting them to the batting. After sewing the quilted blocks together, I did minimal quilting to attach the backing. This methode works great when you main sewing machine is a Singer Featherweight. This was my first time doing this with big blocks and it turned out well.

The backing is from my Gramma’s stash. It’s a light blue striped poly/cotton that had a couple of minor stains. The blue polka dot fabric is slightly thick and not very soft. From the beginning, my intention for the quilt was for it to be a picnic quilt. It stays in the car until needed.

Fabric: April Showers by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics (Layer Cake + navy & yellow polka dots from my stash)
